Points West Living Limited Partnership and Connecting Care CEO Doug Mills Steps Down for Health Reasons. Steve Suske Appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer

Points West Living Limited Partnership (“PWLLP”) regrets to inform you that Doug Mills, Chief Executive Officer, has stepped down for health reasons, effective April 12, 2019.  PWLLP’s Board of Directors has appointed its Chair of the Board, Steve Suske, to become acting CEO. Doug Mills has generously accepted a position as Special Advisor to the Board of Directors, and will continue in his capacity as a Director of the Board, to facilitate the transition.

“It has been my honour and privilege to start this company and grow the team to this point, and I’ve never been more confident in our business strategy, leadership team, and people,” said Mills. “I know that Steve’s significant involvement in Points West Living Limited Partnership — and his tenure as a highly respected seniors housing executive — will make this transition seamless. This is the right decision for my family and me, so I can focus on my health.”

“Doug is stepping down after a remarkable career at Points West Living and Connecting Care,” said Steve Suske. “On behalf of the Board, we thank Doug for his leadership and visionary role in forming a seniors housing company that puts the dignity of its residents first. As CEO, Doug demonstrated exceptional commitment to our residents and a passion for developing a team of extraordinary leaders and has been an outstanding advocate for creating a culture of compassion and integrity. He has had, and will continue to have, the Board’s full support.”

Steve Suske is the right man for the acting CEO role, as he has many years of experience as a seniors housing executive and has acted as Asset Manager of the portfolio for almost 4 years. Steve founded Chartwell Retirement Residences and, more recently, Regal Lifestyle Communities. Steve immediately put together an Acting CEO Committee which consists of Executives and Senior Management of Points West Living, Connecting Care, and that of the Asset Manager, Suske Capital. The Committee has assumed all duties and responsibilities of the CEO position.

The Board has hired Boyden Canada Executive Search to conduct the recruitment process, and appointed Steve Suske, Sarah Cathrae, and Gerry Noble to the Selection Committee.

There will be no change to our business outlook for the second quarter or full fiscal year 2019, other than the cost of the recruitment and the Special Advisor position.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding this announcement.

Yours sincerely,

Steve Suske | Chair & Acting CEO
