Smooth styling to psychedelic scruffiness;
It's 60/70 Day at PWL Lloydminster

September 25th, 2017

From Elvis to Hendrix, beehives to bandanas; the music and fashion of the 1960s and 70s ranged from smooth styling to psychedelic scruffiness to disco. Residents and care partners at Points West Living Lloydminster somehow managed to span the two decades with their 60/70 Day.

Digging deep - into closets

To prepare for the day, residents tie-dyed T-shirts, and care partners dug deep into their closets; really deep in the case of Wellness Supervisor, Michele. She is the one with aviator glasses, leather jacket, platform boots... and an unfortunate amount of Tom Selleck hair. Who wouldn’t have fun with that Magnum character around?

Lyle Baker came to perform some tunes of the times, while residents visited around pub-style snacks. “It was a great day,” says recreation coordinator Rose Baranek. “The residents really enjoyed the way care partners had dressed up.”
