Aquarium fish are keeping quiet and
colourful company at PWL Red Deer

October 10th, 2017

There’s a new attraction at Points West Living Red Deer; or rather, three new attractions in one tank. A new fresh-water aquarium has been installed in one of the memory cottages, and residents are helping care for the fish.

Lots of giving

An individual donated the fish tank to PWL Red Deer, and the recreation team cleaned it and set it up. A community business has generously offered to provide free ongoing weekly cleaning and upkeep. In addition to that service, J & J Marine in Red Deer has donated a salt-water aquarium that will be placed in another memory care cottage.

Residents love to watch

“There are 3 fish in our current tank and the residents are responsible for feeding them and making sure the lights are turned on at 8 am and turned off at 8 pm,” says recreation coordinator Anita Lobe. “Residents from other cottages love to come and visit and watch the fish swim around.”
