‘Best before’ flowers a beautiful reminder
of a caring community

February 6th, 2018

For the past nine months, Points West Living Slave Lake has been on the receiving end of armloads of beautiful flowers. Every couple of weeks, a local flower shop comes by with perfectly beautiful unsold floral arrangements that are approaching their ‘best before date’. The result is a stunning ever-changing collection of fresh flowers.

Beautiful gift brightens whole community

“Around Mother’s Day last year,” says recreation coordinator, Ashleigh Turner, “One of our employee care partners, Mary O’Hanley (pictured above, left with resident Kay Stasow) approached Flowers ETC, a small flower shop in downtown Slave Lake and asked if they had spare flowers they would be willing to donate for us to make corsages for the residents. Flowers ETC donated the flowers then and has continued to do so ever since. All they ask in exchange is that we return the vases the flowers come in.”

“This beautiful gift really brightens up our building,” says Ashleigh, “and in doing so lifts the spirits of our employee care partners, and most importantly our residents.”
