Great food, company and game make for a
perfect Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday at Points West Living Red Deer was a perfect combination of fantastic food, good company, and a great game. Residents gathered in the main dining room to watch the game together and were treated to some amazing game day snacks. 

Iconic appies

“Chef Paolo created some fabulous appetizers,” says recreation coordinator Barb Morris, “including some New England seafood-clam chowder, and Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches.” If you’re a National Football League fan, you’ll recognize that those dishes represent the two teams playing in the final; the Philadelphia Eagles and defending Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots of the Boston area.

There were a lot of other football touches, like NFL tablecloths, Minnesota paper plates and napkins (the game was played in Minneapolis), chicken lollipops, and of course, O’Doules beer.

Great game

It was an exciting game, right to the end, with the Philadelphia Eagles pulling off their first ever Super Bowl win. Fortunately for the residents and care partners who don’t follow football closely, one resident was on top of it. “Nick Kennedy (pictured above) was so involved with the game,” says Barb. “He actually kept us on our toes as to the plays, the penalties etc.”

“Residents are now looking forward to the Olympics,” says Barb, “and a few of the NHL Hockey games that we will be celebrating and making the evening into a party.”
