Spring has arrived… at least at PWL Lloydminster

March 28th, 2018

Even though the view from the window may say ‘winter’, when the calendar says it’s spring, it’s time to start the season. Points West Living Lloydminster did just that with its annual Spring Tea and Bake Sale held on Saturday March 24. It was a great success with many contributors to the baking and lots of buyers too.

Tables laden with donated baking

The Tea featured coffee and tea with angel food cake, berries and whipped cream. Residents invited friends and family, and many visitors came to enjoy the afternoon. Residents, care partners, and families baked and sales tables were laden with their donated baked goods.

I did buy some apple for my husband

“Residents loved to help bake, prepare, set up and of course sample the baking,” says recreation coordinator Rose Baranek. And it wasn’t just residents cruising the sale, she admits. “I did buy some apple pie for my husband and a bunch of cookies and treats for my boys.”

Proceeds go to recreation and spring!

The Spring Tea and Bake Sale is an annual fundraiser for the PWL Lloydminster resident council, and this year they raised $1300, which, as Rose says, “We’ll use for recreation outings, crafts and activities. We also take a big chunk of it to pay for flowers to plant in the spring.”
