Unforgettable flowers highlight support
for Alzheimer Awareness

April 19th, 2018

Points West Living Stettler held its own Alzheimer Awareness Day on Tuesday, March 27. The forget-me-not flowers were available in seed packets and as bright blue cards to mark a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories.

Information, interactions, and tips

The day was filled with information and interactions among residents, their families, and the representative of the Alzheimer Society in Red Deer, Kerrie Jobs. Kerrie provided lots of helpful pamphlets and great information on lifestyle habits that can play a role in preventing dementia; habits such as healthy eating, staying active, connecting socially, reducing stress, reviewing and updating medications, and challenging your brain with new activities, puzzles, and memory games. Kerrie’s information was shared again that evening at the Resident and Family Council meeting.

Famous homemade cinnamon buns

“The families also enjoyed our Kitchen Manager’s famous homemade cinnamon buns with piping hot coffee,” says Recreation coordinator Jenn Dixon, who organized the event.
