Resident is queen for the day
on her 100th birthday

April 20th, 2018

On April 6, 2018, Points West Living Slave Lake resident Mary Giroux turned 100 years of age. “We dressed Mary in a tiara, feather boa and gave her a scepter so she could celebrate her birthday as royalty!” says recreation coordinator Ashleigh Turner. Mary wore them with majesty.

Family and friends celebrate

The dining room was decorated for the celebration, and other residents, members of Mary’s family, and community members including Slave Lake’s member of the Legislative Assembly, Danielle Larivee attended the party. Mary smiled through it all.

Cake, love and great people

And when it came time to blow out all those candles on her cake, help was at hand from Mary’s daughter, Bernice Stertz, and a young great-granddaughter. “It was a great afternoon filled with cake, love, and great people,” says Ashleigh.
