PWL Wainwright residents wrap up summer
outings with a picnic and some honey

September 24th, 2018

Residents of Points West Living Wainwright wrapped up a busy summer of outings with a picnic and a visit to a bee farm. The picnic was held in the Municipal District of Wainwright Riverdale Mini-Park, located about 16 kilometres north of town. Some took advantage of the onsite course to challenge each other to a game of mini-golf.

Meeting the new interim GM

“It was the first time that residents got to meet our new Interim General Manager, Allyn Andrews,” says recreation coordinator Shauna Lee Carlson. “It was also one of the last outings GM Carli Lopez joined in before going on maternity leave.”

Ice cream

“Everyone was treated to their choice of ice cream flavour,” adds Shauna Lee. “In spite of the smoke in the air and the hungry wasps, we all had a great day.”

Busy bees

The final outing was to Simply Bee Farm, where beekeeper Kent Ford shared about the work he does and how much the bees do. “I can say with certainty that we have a lot more appreciation for the hard working honey bees!” says Shauna Lee. “The visit was capped off with a snack of fresh baked bread, thickly slathered with honey butter… yummy!” Shauna Lee adds. “There were sample jars of honey for each of us to take home, and many of us purchased from the Simply Bee shop.”
