PWL Cochrane welcomes its first residents –
one at a time

July 24th, 2019

Points West Living Cochrane welcomed its first resident in early July, and to ensure a smooth and stress-free move-in, only one or two new residents have been added each day. As of Friday July 26, the resident community will number 14, with those residents enjoying small relaxed gatherings – including a recent ice cream social.

Sitting on the balcony cooling off with ice cream

“After our long-awaited opening, and then what seemed like an eternity of rain, we were finally able to enjoy sitting on the balcony and cooling off with ice cream,” says Recreation Therapist, Dawn Robertson. “Our group was small but we spent the time learning about each other, looking at the mountains off in the distance and admiring our neighbour’s lovely yards.”

Opportunities for friendship and growth

Dawn says the recreation team looks forward to providing lots of activities in the weeks and months ahead. “We are making plans to provide opportunities for our residents to get to know each other, establish friendships, and learn and grow together,” she says. Some examples include flower arranging, a walking club, games, entertainment, and ‘meet your neighbour’ socials.

She adds, “The town of Cochrane also provides us with tremendous opportunities for a terrific volunteer program, intergenerational programs and community partnerships.”
