Seniors across Vegreville are treated to a Grandparents Day luncheon

September 20th, 2019

A group of residents from Points West Living Heritage House joined with other Vegreville seniors recently to celebrate Grandparents Day. The event was hosted by the Vegreville Care Centre and was open to ‘grandparents’ from seniors care homes in the region.

Kubi burgers... and pink lemonade

“Five residents and I took the local taxi to the Vegreville Care Centre for a barbeque luncheon,” says recreation coordinator James Barleta. “They served Kubi burgers, hotdogs, and beef & chicken burgers with all the fixings, plus some sides like potato salad, pickles, desserts and pink lemonade.”

Happy to chat and meet old friends

“All of our residents really enjoyed the meal, and were happy to chat and meet their acquaintances, including some who used to live in Heritage House,” says James. “It is always nice and heartwarming to see them smiling and interacting with other residents from other seniors homes.”

Marcia used to live at VCC and a few years back she moved to Heritage House and became more active again. She helps with baking, exercises and plays bingo.”
