Residents meet Amazing Race challenges with enthusiasm

February 10th, 2020

In their own version of The Amazing Race reality TV show, Points West Living Wainwright residents hurried around the building finding clues and meeting challenges. Residents paired up into several teams of two and the game was on.

Four challenges

Participants had to visit four different stations set up throughout the building. At each stop, they could choose one of two challenges.

  1. ‘Who am I’-or-‘Where am I’ (Second floor lounge) Match care partner names with their photos; and a scavenger hunt of observations from around the building (number of puzzles completed, the three plagues Eden combats, and more)
  2. Sing-or-Pray (Chapel) The words to the song ‘In the Garden’ and the words to the Lord’s Prayer were all mixed up and had to be assembled in proper order.
  3. Toss-or-Skip (Recreation room) Throw a bean bag into a basket 15 feet away; or floor curl and try skip a rock to the center ring.
  4. Eat-or-Set (Dining room) Eat a bowl of ice cream with ‘all the fixings’; or set a proper table.

Laughter all around

“It was hilarious watching everyone scurry about trying to complete the challenges,” says General Manager Carli Lopez. “The evening was full of running, shortness of breath, and most of all laughter by everyone who took part in the event and everyone else amused by our residents running around the community completing challenges.”

When the race was over, everyone gathered to catch their breath and visit over ice cream and prize presentations.
