Hoe-down happy hour welcomes autumn and harvest

October 9th, 2020

Residents of Points West Living in Prince Albert held a harvest hoe-down for their September party. Many residents got involved collecting and sharing items to create the autumn party theme. With the help from employee care partners they decorated to make the building a perfect fall display.

Freshly harvested wheat

Residents collected and decorated tin cans to hold decorative stalks of grain; much of which came from the wheat fields of General Manager Heather Sander’s parents’ family farm in nearby Tway, Saskatchewan.

Country best

Dressed in their country best, residents enjoyed the live country tunes of local duo Dan & Linda, who were screened and physically distanced in a far corner while their music filled the room. Linda is the daughter and designated support person of a PWL Prince Albert resident, so already had COVID clearance for the visit.

“As usual, chef Wilbert outdid himself with treats,” says Heather, “and we employee care partners delivered the goodies to residents as they enjoyed the entertainment.”

First live music

“It was a great afternoon,” Heather adds, “as this was the first time we had live music in our building since before COVID.”
