December is all fun and games at PWL Lloydminster

December 23rd, 2020

If some of Santa’s elves didn’t make it to the North Pole workshop this year, it’s because they were too busy bringing fun and games to Points West Living Lloydminster. Anticipating a disappointing COVID-restricted December for residents, the community’s recreation and leaderships teams got together early to plan a month of fun. And they delivered, every single day.

Fun, excitement, and sponteneity

“With so many restrictions due to COVID,” says General Manager Sarah Walker, “we knew that any moment of fun, excitement, and spontaneity we could have would be such an amazing ‘soil warmer’ for our residents and care partners.”

Theme weeks, dress-up days

“Every week we planned a different theme; Reindeer Week, Elf Week, Gingerbread Week, and Santa Week,” Sarah says. “We had dress up days, crafts, games, activities, and snacks all associated with those themes.” Dress up days included elf-outfits, antlers, Christmas pyjamas, sweaters, red-outfits, green-outfits and more.

Games, movies, and snacks

“Some of the other activities we planned were Holiday Hot Chocolate Bar, Gingerbread Cookie decorating, Jeopardy Christmas Edition, Scattergories Christmas Edition, Christmas Bingo,” Sarah adds, “plus Christmas movie days and special snacks.”
