New Face for Fun in Wainwright

August 28th, 2014

For Jenna Hopaluk, the recreation coordination job is new, but the community is not. Born and raised in Wainwright, she’s glad to be back after several years away for education and work.

Jenna officially starts as recreation coordinator for Points West Living Wainwright in September but she’s already on site, learning the ropes from Shannon Pugh who recently took over as interim General Manager.

Residents have been quick to welcome her, and give a little direction for her new position. “I hope I’m the right material to call the bingo around here,” Jenna quips, “It has come up that I need to know what I’m doing!” Her first test will come on September 4, but she’s excited about a lot more activities too.

She hopes to establish more regular activities, including daily morning exercise; from chair yoga to walking. “I’m hoping to invite more people, to get more residents active and moving.” Plus she’s already planning for fun outings, the first big one coming up next week, when the RCMP Musical Ride will be in town.

Jenna has diplomas in Child & Youth Care, Disability Studies, and Educational Assistance from Lakeland College in Vermillion, and she earned her Health Care Aid certification while working in long term care in St. Paul Alberta. She plans to continue her studies to become certified as a Recreation Aid as well.

When she’s not working or studying, Jenna is busy being a “Proud auntie of two nieces and two nephews” in Wainwright.
