Bean Bag Toss and Bowling Round out Olympic Games

August 25th, 2016

At least they did as the Games were played at Points West Living, Peace River! When the Olympic Games began in Rio, residents were ready to go for the gold with a whole set of games, from bingo to bowling to a wheelchair relay. And the rings… well, they weren’t the trademarked interlocking ones you see on Olympic venues…

Great enthusiasm

Like the Rio games, the PWL Peace River games ran over two weeks August 5-19, with lots of close contests and great spectator enthusiasm.

The final medal tally was:
   • Bean Bag Toss: Gold, Dale Smith; Silver, Jennifer Haggett; Bronze, Bill Ives
   • Bingo: Gold, Mary Biggs; Silver, Bill Ives; Bronze, Frank Fedorowicz
   • Bowling: Gold, Mary Biggs; Silver, Joseph Girard, Bronze, Phyllis Lund
   • Cribbage: Gold, Bill Ives; Silver, Mary Biggs
   • Ring Toss: Gold, Dale Smith; Silver, Phyllis Lund; Bronze, Bill Ives
   • Scrabble: Gold, Marie Plaizier; Silver, Janet Ramos; Bronze, Clara Grey
   • Wheelchair Relay: Gold: Jennifer Haggett, Reine Lauze, Dale Smith, Marie Plaizier, Herta Caruso, and Annmarie Pruyser
