Shopping excursion turns into 'day on the town'

July 21st, 2017

When some residents at Points West Living Cold Lake decided they needed to get some shopping done, they turned it into a group outing. The result was a little shopping, a lot of laughs, and a plan to go again regularly.

shopping lists in hand

“Five of us took the bus about 10 kilometres across town to the Walmart Supercentre in South Cold Lake,” says recreation coordinator Angela Benoit. “Each resident had their shopping list handy, and we made all the stops including clothing, pharmacy, toys and food.”

Pool noodle play

A resident had asked Angela to pick up 2 pool noodles, and when the group reached the pool noodle display, “It turned into a noodle sword fight!” Angela laughs.

“The trip ended with lunch at McDonalds, and residents told me it was a great change to ‘go out on the town’,” says Angela. “We have made plans to keep this up every month, and even try the shopping mall closer to home.”
