Christmas moments at Points West Living

Sometimes a moment tells a whole story, and sometimes that story is only a couple of lines long. In the wonderful bustle of the week leading up to Christmas, we caught a few of those moments at Points West Living… Eden Moments with a little extra sparkle.

Personal cookie decorating kits

Lower left: “We have many residents who are now restricted to their rooms, and recreation programming is limited everywhere,” says Points West Living Stettler Recreation Therapist, Lisa Smith. “So I came in Tuesday to help make individually packed cookie decorating kits for the residents. Every cottage was given some of these kits. A few will be delivered to residents’ rooms. For others it will make a little side activity at the dinner table. The goal is to provide a little variety and spontaneity for the residents, to reduce boredom and lift their spirits.” Photo: Lisa Smith (centre), along with Sue Buscholl and Kathy Tuck, gets ready to deliver cookie decorating kits to residents in their cottage bubbles.

Upper left: Carol Dyck, general manager of PWL Stettler, sent along this priceless photo. “It’s a picture of Independent residents Ben and Shirley Erickson, who placed presents for their grandchildren under the outside evergreen tree, and then waved to them as they picked up their gifts and left other gifts for Ben and Shirley.”

Right: Carli Lopez, general manager of PWL Wainwright shared this photo: “A family member of one resident says her mom was a little down and out knowing she wouldn’t get to celebrate Christmas with all of her family like she usually does. So, her daughter came up with a brilliant idea to bring the family to her. She decorated the tree with an abundance of photos of family members, in hopes that she would be reminded that near or far, she will always be surrounded by the love of her family.
