Assistant Manager to share expanded leadership role at PWL Red Deer

March 24th, 2021

The countdown is on for the anticipated May 2021 opening of Phase-2 of Points West Living Red Deer. The expansion will double the number of residents and employees, and broaden the level of care provided to include Long Term Care. A new position of Assistant Manager has been created – a first for Points West Living – to help General Manager Tracy Elliott manage the increased capacity and complexity of care involved.

At PWL Red Deer from the beginning

The new Assistant Manager is no stranger to the community. Alyssa Seifried began working as a full time LPN when PWL Red Deer opened in the summer of 2016. She also served as Educator and interim Wellness Manager, before taking on the role of recreation coordinator in 2018. Before her time at Points West Living, Alyssa worked as an LPN in assisted living, long term care, and acute care.

“Personally, I’m really passionate about Eden,” says Alyssa, referring to The Eden Alternative vision ‘to eliminate loneliness, helplessness, and boredom’ for residents and care partners in caring communities. “I am excited about providing education and setting the environment for the new addition; and making sure the whole team has what they need to succeed as well.”

General Manager welcomes the support

“Since everything will be twice as big, the management role will also expand to a larger scale in every way,” says General Manager Tracy Elliott, “so Points West Living felt it was necessary to add a second pair of hands. I am truly grateful for that decision.”

“Alyssa is the right person for the role as she is a driven, organized, passionate, Eden-trained care partner who comes from a healthcare background,” Tracy says. “She is inspiring and very valuable in our family. She will make a great role model for her fellow employee care partners.”
