Volunteers’ contributions lighten COVID load

May 11th, 2021

A small group of volunteers has helped Points West Living Heritage House in Vegreville make its way through the COVID pandemic. To show their appreciation, residents recently created a special thank you to be given to those volunteers during National Volunteer Week in April.

Many Thanks!

In preparation, residents and employee care partners worked on handmade Thank You cards, filled special Thank You mugs with coffee, tea, and chocolates, and wrapped them all with love.

The first volunteer to receive his gift was Tony Mapa. Tony comes and plays music for residents one afternoon a month. Because of COVID, Tony wasn’t allowed to sing, but his keyboard playing brought residents real joy.

Range of volunteers

Heritage House volunteers range from helping at the front desk, the Council board, and numerous tasks around Heritage Heights. Volunteer screeners for COVID will remain on task as visiting restrictions ease and more people enter the building (Volunteers have been allowed during COVID as outlined on page 18 of CMOH Order 32-2020).

“Here at Heritage House we are so very lucky to have amazing volunteers that help make our home a brighter place to be,” says General Manager Alexis Bauer.
