Seniors' Week provides five days of colourful and tasty fun

June 21st, 2021

When Points West Living Lloydminster celebrates Seniors Week, there are no holds barred. Even though there were no outings, there was something new, tasty and colourful going on for residents to enjoy every day in-house. Employee care partners played a big part in creating the week’s fun environment.

Mustache Monday

It all kicked off on Mustache Monday: employee care partners went about their day with a mustache stuck to their masks, and in the afternoon everyone celebrated International Chocolate Ice Cream Day with chocolate ice cream cones.

Tuesday was ‘Tight and Bright Day’. That’s the day care partners donned their brightest and tightest clothes. During the afternoon, a pre-kindergarten class from Mother Theresa School, came for an outside visit and sang songs to residents through the windows. The children even dressed in bright T-shirts in keeping with the theme, and gifted residents with lovely homemade quilts bearing panels with the children’s handprints.

Western Wednesday

Western Wednesday was next, starting with a pancake breakfast hosted by General Manager, Sarah Walker. In the afternoon, an indoor ‘ice cream truck’ rolled around to all of the residents’ suites, distributing ice cream cones.

Thursday was Tie-dye day, with a special prize-winning bingo in the afternoon.

Friday, Beach Day

Friday was Beach day. “We decorated the building in a beach theme,” says Sarah, “and everyone wore their summer clothes and beach gear. Singer Merle Tenney came and performed, and in the afternoon we feasted on pub snacks and drinks.”

To cap off a week like that, on Saturday and Sunday, everyone rested!
