Pony and puppy love capture residents’ hearts

June 23rd, 2021

Other than Nellie the resident cat, it’s been a long time since residents of Points West Living Cold Lake have seen any animal – let alone stroked or held one. That’s what made a recent visit of two ponies, one horse and a puppy so very touching.

Jack, Hope, Roscoe, and Penny

Three volunteers from a local farm brought the animals for an outdoor visit on Friday June 18th. They visited with residents for more than an hour, talked, and held the animals steady as residents stroked them. The ponies’ names are Jack (a therapeutic pet) and Hope. The horse is Roscoe, and the labradoodle puppy is Penny.

“Residents were so excited,” says recreation coordinator Lindsay Boisvenue. “They had such a good time with the animals I hope they come again next month.”
