Big smiles over new portraits
January 6th, 2022
Residents at Points West Living Stettler had the chance to get their portraits done in the weeks before Christmas, and were able to share them with their families over the holidays. It took a lot of organization to get everyone in, but the smiles tell the story of a welcome opportunity.
Residents looking their best
“We set up our meeting room as a little photo studio and set up a schedule of doing resident pictures every afternoon for a week,” says Recreation Therapist Lisa Smith. “Care partners let us know the days residents were having their hair appointments so we could schedule their photos for when they could look their best.”
“Residents were very excited for the opportunity to have their photos taken as it had been years since most have had a professional photo done,” says Lisa. “It was fun to see them get all dressed up and wanting to make the most of this opportunity.”
Portraits much appreciated
The recreation team printed two copies of each resident's portrait, one for their room and another to hang in the cottage. The digital files were emailed to families to share and print as they wanted. “Families loved the photos and expressed gratitude for the lovely pictures,” Lisa adds. “Everyone had to work together to make this happen and it was a great success!”
