Irish pub moves indoors

March 21st, 2022

With spring on the way, it looked like ‘Pub on the Patio’ would be a safe bet for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Points West Living Drayton Valley. And even though dropping temperatures forced the party inside, there were no complaints.

Green beer is a tradition

“A tradition for many people on Saint Patrick’s Day is to go to their local pub to have a green drink,” says office administrator Lydia Carter, “So we discussed how much fun it could be to host a pub night here.”

So Lydia, along with Recreation Therapist Amber Tomaszeski came up with a plan of action. They made posters, organized ‘pub ‘ supplies, and recruited residents to help with decorations.

Change of venue welcomed

“The weather on March 17th turned out to be a little too cold for some of our residents,” says Lydia, “so the venue was changed to our very sunny library. Once word got around the community about the new location, the turnout was incredible, and fun was had by all.”
