Talking Turkey over Tea and Cupcakes

October 13th, 2022

(L to R) Kay Conroy with Rec Aide, Amber Tomaszeski

Three days before Thanksgiving Day the weekly baking group at Points West Living Drayton Valley gathered together to prepare cupcakes with a Thanksgiving theme. Recreation therapist Amber Tomaszeski found a cute turkey cupcake idea online and thought it would be a fun activity to help celebrate the occasion.

Resident Glenda Mabbutt offered her experience to help make chocolate cupcakes from scratch and prepare homemade chocolate frosting. Office Administrator Lydia Carter had the opportunity to take a break from her busy day to help out with decorating.

Using the chocolate frosting, white decorators frosting, candy eyes, and Reese’s Pieces, Glenda, Amber and Lydia worked diligently to make the cupcakes resemble turkeys.

Other residents joined in by coming to the neighborhood kitchen and having wonderful conversation with the bakers.

After the cupcakes had been baked and decorated, everyone enjoyed tea, coffee and the moist and delicious cupcakes.
