Countdown to Christmas starts with decorations

December 8th, 2022

December started off with a burst of Christmas activities at Points West Living Drayton Valley. Decorating the many full sized Christmas trees in the community was very popular among the residents.

When given the opportunity to decorate miniature Christmas trees for their rooms, there was a large turnout from residents.

While listening to Christmas music, the cottages were expertly decorated by residents and care partners.

Recreation Therapist Amber Tomaszeski worked diligently on the program schedule to ensure that residents and care partners alike spent the last month of 2022 making beautiful holiday memories together making decorations. Amber also came up with the idea for cute snow people made from old socks.

Care Partner Beth Shand took the time to make a special memory with one of the residents. Because both Beth and the resident grew up on the east coast they both have an affinity for beach glass. Beth brought some she had collected at the beach while on vacation and took the time to make a Christmas tree craft with the resident.

The room was filled with laughter and storytelling while decorating the little trees that got plenty of glitter! The community is looking forward to many more activities and themed days as the countdown to Christmas continues.
