A Passion for Seniors Care

December 8th, 2022

Angie MacKenzie, new General Manager in Red Deer

“I am extremely passionate about residents directing their own care,” says the new general manager of Points West Living Red Deer, Angie MacKenzie. “The residents are the reason I am here.”

Angie joined Red Deer in October and says she chose senior healthcare for the residents and because of the Eden Alternative Philosophy at PWL.

“This is their home and I am very excited to work alongside residents, families, and all care partners.”

Angie worked in healthcare for the past 13 years with the last 9 years in senior healthcare Points West Living. She was Business Manager for a community then made a move to the home office as Regional HR/Scheduling and then Building Services Manager.

Angie and her family moved from Kamloops, BC to Lacombe, Alberta in October 2021.

Between them, Angie and her partner have four “amazing children and one beautiful six-year-old granddaughter.” Two children are in university, one is working, and the youngest will soon graduate from grade 12.

She and partner Jason spend much of their free time golfing in the spring and summer and then hibernating around a fire in the winter. But last year, at 49 years old, Angie was introduced to dirt biking and after a couple of rides, she was hooked and bought her own dirt bike.

Angie says, “I absolutely love it.”
