Men's Group Brings Much to the Table

In an effort to create opportunities for meaningful activities for its male residents, PWL Red Deer decided to host a weekly Men’s Group and it has quickly become a favourite for some of the guys.

Every week a group of men from all ages and backgrounds have the chance to relax, joke, laugh and try out new activities. 

They have played antique horse races, set up a remote-control car track and even tried their hand at baking. It might surprise some how many men like to bake. Every week, the men choose what they want to do each week and the Recreation Aides do what they can to facilitate their requests. 

Sometimes the men joke with their female counterparts that they now belong to an “exclusive men’s club”.

The Red Deer Men’s Group checks the boxes on the antidotes to loneliness, boredom, and helplessness. This truly is a meaningful activity for the men, as well for those who facilitate the program each week.
