A Long-awaited Reunion with Music at Stettler

April 26th, 2023

“The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and we, the musicians, are the messengers.” – American musician Roy Ayers

For months the residents at Points West Living Stettler waited for the day they would be reunited with long-time volunteer Garry Fix coming to play for them again.

Traditionally when fall comes around, the Canadian snowbird heads off to Arizona to wait out the winter months. But when Garry is back home for the summer, once a month he volunteers his time to play the familiar old favourites the residents know and love. As he sings, plays the guitar, and works his amps, he brings smiles to their faces.

Garry is a long-time volunteer at Points West Living Stettler, going back to when the building opened in 2013 when Garry was playing with a musical group called the Three Amigos.

Over time, Garry started playing for the residents as a solo musician, always bringing the same energy and positive vibes into the community. Garry is appreciated for the time and dedication he has given to entertaining the people at Stettler.
