Animal antics amuse Wainwright residents

August 23rd, 2023

Larry the llama.

Feeding Ritz crackers to goats and sheep… Bottle-feeding calves, including one named Moo Hefner… It wasn’t a usual day for 14 residents of Points West Living Wainwright!

In mid-summer 2023, these residents enjoyed a field trip to the farm owned by resident Bud Hassall’s daughter, Sandra Creech. There, they laughed to see the antics of the sheep, llamas, pigs, piglets, chickens, cats, kittens and calves, plus a boar, rooster, dog and pony. There were even fainting goats!

“The llamas were the highlight for me,” said Recreation Coordinator Shauna Lee Carlson, who was especially fond of the llama named Larry. On the other hand, “Linda was rather stand-offish!”

Even clouds rolling in couldn’t spoil the afternoon. “There’s just something about fresh air and fun that brings joy to us all,” Carlson said. “We really appreciate Sandra taking time from her job to host us at her home and let us get to know her animals.”
