Exciting—and spooky—yardwork in Vegreville
October 18th, 2023
Preparations for Halloween came early this year at Points West Living Heritage House in Vegreville—along with piles of enthusiasm from one particular resident.
“It was a regular Wednesday afternoon with bingo happening in our main living room,” said Kristen Gusnowski, Recreation Aide. “Halfway through, excitement was heard as resident Dale noticed our Maintenance Manager Leandro with the leaf blower out front of our building.”
As Leandro started making piles of leaves to bag them up, Dale eagerly joined in—not just to help tidy the yard, but because the leaf bags were Halloween-themed!
Resident Wilma commented that Dale had been “waiting for those bags for weeks!”
Once finished filling the bags, Dale proudly took each employee care partner he came across outside to show off his creepy and fun creations.
“Dale was so excited and happy to be able to collect the leaves with Leandro and looks forward to it every year,” said Kristen—pointing out that activities like these help meet the Eden principle that we thrive when we have variety, spontaneity and unexpected happenings in our lives. As Halloween approaches, “He is still showing everyone he can the bags of leaves he made and is sure to let us know there are more on the ground ready to be picked up.”
