Quality time spent with youth in Lloydminster

November 30th, 2023

Resident Sabrina (centre) has a fun time with local students, along with Health Care Aide Rhoda (standing beside Sabrina) and Recreation Aide Maggie (sitting on the far left).

When are they coming back? That’s the question residents at Points West Living Lloydminster were asking after an enjoyable visit from local students.

In early November, the grade eight class from Bishop Lloyd Middle School came to the PWL community to do activities like play board games, paint nails, create music on the piano or simply chat.

“Some chit-chats resulted in new jokes learned by both students and residents!” said Maxwell Shaffner, Recreation Therapist. “It’s special when students from the local school are so eager to come and hang out with us. The grade eight students may not know just how valuable their time spent with us really means.”

Visits like these help PWL fulfil the Eden principle that aims for a caring, inclusive and vibrant community.

“An elder-centred community commits to creating a human habitat where life revolves around close and continuing contact with people of all ages and abilities, as well as plants and animals,” Shaffner said. “It is these relationships that provide all with a pathway to a life worth living.”

So thanks go to this great bunch of students. PWL Lloydminster residents can’t wait to see them again!
