Congrats to PWL Peace River, nominated for a local award!

January 5th, 2024

For over a decade, Points West Living Peace River has been standing as an example of what senior living communities can achieve when guided by a philosophy of care that prioritizes choice, empowerment and connection. The greater community recognizes this, which is why PWL Peace River has been nominated for a 2024 Davis Award by the local chamber of commerce.

The PWL community is excited about this recognition. “I believe families, residents, employee care partners and the local community have seen us strive to have resident-centred care and make the community a comfortable environment for everyone,” said General Manager Maegan Smith. “We are a welcoming community and strive to follow the Eden philosophy to eliminate loneliness, helplessness and boredom.”

The Davis Awards celebrate the Peace River businesses that make a difference in the lives of locals, helping to make the town a great place to be. PWL Peace River’s nomination is in the category of Industry Leadership, and the winner will be announced on February 3, 2024.

“The feeling of peace and comfort is immediate upon entering the grounds,” said a family member of a resident. “The employee care partners are so caring and considerate to all residents. Seniors and those with special needs are given the love and attention any person requires to have the best quality of daily living.”

Another resident’s daughter said, “Points West Living feels like home, and this is so important for the residents and their family members. We are so happy our mother is at Points West!”

With a decade of success behind it, the PWL community continues to inspire and set the standard for excellence in senior living, proving that aging can be a fulfilling and enriching journey with the right environment and approach.

Part of this includes engaging with the local community by providing meaningful and rewarding volunteer opportunities that build connections, help volunteers learn about the lives of seniors, and uplift and encourage both residents and volunteers. The PWL community also actively seeks opportunities to be involved in larger events or celebrations, enabling the broader community to strengthen its bonds with residents and for residents to feel greater connections to their town and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the region.

PWL Peace River has been nominated for Davis Awards in previous years, too, but so far hasn’t walked away a top winner. So keep your fingers crossed!
