A Kilo of canine affection comes to Cold Lake

February 1st, 2024

Resident Ross bonds with his friend’s dog Kilo.

It’s easy to be shy around strangers. Luckily, with all the treats and pats coming his way, Kilo the dog soon relaxed and had a grand time.

Kilo stopped by Points West Living Cold Lake with his owner Randy McDonald. A friend of one of the community’s residents, McDonald had volunteered to bring Kilo by to entertain everyone. A gentle giant, the dog always followed his owner’s instructions and was very friendly with each person who wanted to say hi.

“Kilo was very busy searching out the treats from each resident and spending a few minutes getting some love,” said Claudia Cupasachoa, Recreation Aide. “Jackie, one of the residents, spoiled the dog and brought him a whole plate of treats.”

And while Kilo enjoyed his brief stay, so did the residents. “Having this dog visit was a great opportunity for our residents to interact and relive their fond memories of their own pets,” Cupasachoa said. “When we have animals in the community, I can always see how there is a positive change in the residents’ moods.”

Thanks to Kilo and his owner for dropping in. McDonald plans to make this a monthly activity, and the residents look forward to next time!
